SHiP Landlord & Commissioner Event ‘Better Together’

Possibly the pinnacle of 2024’s activities were our 2 Landlord & Commissioner Events- ‘Stronger Together’.  There were 2 events- one in the North and one in the south.

The event in Leeds was very generously sponsored by Devonshires and was held at the Park Plaza and set the scene for the second event later in the year. 

The event in London was very generously sponsored by Winckworth Solicitors and supported by Notting Hill Genesis.  It was held at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith- a suitably cool venue for supported housing.

We are exceedingly grateful for the generous sponsorship of Devonshires and Winckworths for making this happen – we couldn’t have done it without them. 

Both events were well attended- 75 people in the room at each event. The MHCLG, LGA, NHF, Jigsaw Housing, Together Housing, Rotherham MBC and RB Kensington & Chelsea all spoke about their work in the sector.

Delegates then set to the task of identifying challenges and solutions that would make the sector stronger and create better joint approaches to supported housing going forward. 

The output of the meetings was a report setting out the key issues that concern those of us working in supported housing, culminating in a ‘manifesto’, or ‘our asks’ of government and of ourselves.

The events were a great success – they were lively, with huge positivity about working better together, with lots of mutual understanding being developed and a very clear, shared message of unity and support for supported housing to work closer together towards a strong future.  We hope to repeat them in the future.
